The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing the voluntary recall of all Buckyballs and Buckycubes high-powered magnets.  The CPSC warns that these products contain defects in the design, warnings and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury and death to children and teenagers.

Reason for the Recall

From 2009 to the present, the CPSC received numerous incident reports of ingestions involving Buckyballs and Buckycubes, many of which required surgery.  The recall is intended to protect children and teenagers from the risk of injury that can occur when more than one magnet is ingested.
